LaLa; Seeds of Life

Everything has teeth and wants to eat you if your Chris 😉

A long long time ago (3 years to be exact) an idea started to take shape. That idea was nurtured, it began to grow, began to take shape. Like anything it was able to change with the right amount of love and care. Life threw in many defining factors which continued to make it evolve. What started as a tiny seed is now a beautiful garden (metaphorically anyways) This idea is what now has me writing to you as we travel down the Nullabor on our way back from spending 5 months in a beautiful town called Leonora.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to travel the Nullarbor? Ever dreamt of making your way towards the sights that this amazing land has to offer? LaLa; The treeless plain

We are currently stopped up at the Nullarbor Roadhouse for the rest of the evening. It’s been 4 days since we left the security and comfort of what we know- Victoria. The tread of the tires have spun on more than 1800kms of bitumen.

I thank God it’s been bitumen. The roads since passing Adelaide have been a dream and it’s great not hearing the ‘huff, sigh, moan’ next to me every 5 minutes (courtesy of Chris). We have done larger stretches and pushes when on the road this time. Just seem ready to get to the West, can’t think of a single reason why 😝

LaLa; Tassy here I come

1 month. The count down has already begun in my head. Its probably a “the glass is half empty” outlook. But in reality its just the beginning to another adventure. On December 1st Chris and myself will make our way back to Yarragon Hotel for 6 months of Run. We left the Kitchen 5 months ago for the Camper lifestyle, hence the name of this entire blog! Its been a fun and packed transition and it has converted us for life. Continue reading

LaLa; Down South

With the gold season at an end Chris and I made our way down to South Australia to catch up with friends and family that I havent seen in many, many years. We had a few stops to make while in the salt bush region known as Eyre Peninsular. I grew up in a town called Whyalla, we had a large crime rate and just as many big reds to call it home. LaLa; Gold Fever

It’s amazing how being on the road it seems we have all the time in the world when in reality i cant believe how much time has passed and how little time is still left. So many amazing things occur everyday. Whether its seeing baby billy goats while driving down the highway, watching an eagle carry away its lunch or just sitting around camp taking in the abundance of trees, grass, dirt and overall serenity that mother nature provides. Almost every moment has been memorable and unique. Since my last update we spent another 2 weeks out at Gilberton Station (home away from home). Continue reading

LaLa; Vietnam- a holiday on our holiday

Who knew prospecting for 22 days for 8 hours a day could really take it out of you.

You didn’t know? Well neither did we!

We learnt very fast though, you’re so focused on enjoying the red dirt and researching areas that you almost dont realize you switched to auto pilot at some point while detecting. So what do you do when your exhausted and its time for a break? HOLIDAY!! Continue reading

LaLa; Journal of the final gold days

Mon, Tue, Wed 19th, 20th, 21st June (western creek)

Spent 3 days at Western Creek Station after Forsayth. No great stories to tell unfortunately, Id love to say we found gold but no such luck. It wasnt that we werent going to the right places, even had a few people give us some good tips on where to go. It just seemed to elude us. We both had detectors out, Chris more so than myself. What can I say, i just dont have the muscle for it yet, and to be honest I dont have gold fever like Chris and many others, so when the temp starts heating up at 12pm and you’ve got sweat dripping down off your chin and your  just soooooo hot. The motivation just doesnt seem great enough to cook with heat exhaustion, especially when there is no gold in sight. Continue reading
