Have you ever wondered what it’s like to travel the Nullarbor? Ever dreamt of making your way towards the sights that this amazing land has to offer? Maybe you want to come to the land that promises instant riches in the form of Gold. Well let me just stop that little brain fart right there! Already I can see this beautiful span of land is nothing like they say it is. I came here with the thoughts that WA was barren. I expected so much of this state and so far I am great-full for the disappointment😩😄🤣, I expected Mick Taylor, angry indigenous, wild dogs, spinifex and more snakes than in a lolly bag!
SO FAR I haven’t met Mick, the only dog I’ve had any interaction with was an ankle-biting-mouse (chihuahua) and it is friendly, the worst plant is some tiny little purple flower with spikes that hurt like a MOFO if you accidentally or purposely run into it and it’s to damn cold for any snakes (unless you buy them in sugar form at the Coles express)
In the short time we have been in Leonora we have been adopted by some wonderful locals who also prospect, we got abused on the CB radio, we found some gold, had our brains turned to mush- courtesy of Tony and Lisa at Gold Talk Leonora, had our starter motor Fritz itself,had the battery in the car die, drove 230kms to get to the nearest town to replace the battery to the GPZ7000 AND even had to break up a fist fight…
Only been here 7 days!!!

Well to be perfectly honest they were right! we were wrong 🤕- BUT…. 7 days in and it’s been an amazing experience, even with the little nuisances that have arisen over this short period of time. We just finished the 3 day course with Tony and Lisa and I say this right now- If you want to follow in our footsteps and the footsteps of many others who have come here in search of that elusive but ‘STILL‘ there Gold.

The knowledge that those 2 have when it comes to prospecting in WA is in surmountable! They also have a way of pumping you full of so much information in a way that is jovial and fun you can’t but help yourself in wanting to soak it all up. And you need to soak it all up, but- if all else fails they give you ‘THE HOLY GRAIL‘ It is the book of all books. The king of navigating the Gold fields in Western Australia! It also has the bureaucracy side of things covered (which is the real killer to all greenies who come here), and there is a lot of that. Because if you thought you could come over here, buy a miners right and just go swinging you were WRONG! But it is an amazing feeling to have that piece of paper in hand
There is more paperwork than gold, I’m almost 100% sure of that. Found 2 little pieces on the first day (WooHoo😆) but I’ve definitely filled out more paperwork in the same amount of time that it took to find those 2 small pieces 😧. And for those of you who weren’t listening the first time I’ll say it 1 more time…

We set off tomorrow to go bush. Armed with new found knowledge, rations, equipment and enthusiasm. The thrum and hum-drum of city life in Leonora is almost to much for us to bear 😂 So off we go to find some bulldust and (fingers crossed) some colour. We will return in a week (Or So) when the Stench of each other is to much to for us to bear 😷🤢 Until then…
