LaLa; Seeds of Life

Everything has teeth and wants to eat you if your Chris 😉

A long long time ago (3 years to be exact) an idea started to take shape. That idea was nurtured, it began to grow, began to take shape. Like anything it was able to change with the right amount of love and care. Life threw in many defining factors which continued to make it evolve. What started as a tiny seed is now a beautiful garden (metaphorically anyways) This idea is what now has me writing to you as we travel down the Nullabor on our way back from spending 5 months in a beautiful town called Leonora.

Now! many of our readers have followed the story which began over 2 years ago with the life changing plans of taking 6 months off work to travel to the Gold fields in Queensland. Khaleesi was born from that idea, and she has been amazing in looking after us on our journeys. The amazing journey with many amazing memories and friends made along the way is what really made these trips life time adventures.

Chris was hooked. There was no going back for him, and where he goes I will surely follow 🤔 They say love I blind? 🤗

Friends who prospect together, stay together lol

Western Australia was not an exception, it was The Exemption!

The friends you make on the road really are for life. The same can be said for the memories you make. I understand that I didn’t keep up to date with blogging but those of you on Facebook were able to see the small achievements made throughout the year still 😁 and if your not on Facebook then I don’t know what your doing? Get on over there and send me a friend request on Facebook

Nothing beats seeing our girl with an amazing background

We began the season like many others before us… What better way to start the season than to go and see Tony and Lisa at Goldtalk. These guys are amazing and we were very sad to have to say goodbye at the end of the season. If you want to sign up for their newsletter click HERE. We spent the first couple of months in and out of the caravan park as we found ground that was workable and that wasn’t. Trying to find our feet in the first couple of months really revealed a few things.

  • Common courtesy between prospectors is few and far between!
  • Don’t trust anyone. And I mean anyone!
  • “found anything?” always answer with “No” or “little bit here and there”
  • There Is always shady dealings somewhere!

But the biggest blow was……😱

  • Aussie Gold Hunters is Rigged

The view from our recliners

We did what we set out to do though- We pegged our first lease but unfortunately to much can’t be said on that one until the end of November (will keep you updated otherwise) not long after that I got offered a job, working as a cleaner. Turns out cleaning isn’t really my forte but hey it was nice to do something different and keep myself busy. With the job came a few perks, we were given a donga to use while there which helped when suddenly the temperature decided that earth needed to be cleansed by fire 🔥🌎🌋🏜️

When your patch has a double rainbow you know its good luck

The current tally is:    WA= 100     Kayla= -10

But don’t worry, I’ll be back next year (Oops guess the secret is out now) We will come back to that 😜 Having the donga definitely made things easier, for the first few weeks while the weather wasn’t to bad. Chris would just go out while I stayed in town and brought home the bacon 💰 Someone had to, I doubt id be getting that gold sold untill he was dead otherwise lol. From there things just started really sinking in. We were meeting so many new people and really getting to see what the town was about. All those stories we were told that had us to scared to walk down the street were porkies. Everyone was lovely, we even went out to the pub a few times 🍸🍻🍹

The locals knew who we were and we knew the locals, a feeling of acceptance slowly started. It started to feel like home. That feeling of belonging with unlimited possibilities.

So there I was about 3 and a half months into the trip, sitting outside with Patch(the guard dog) when the next seed was planted in our story

(you know when you watch a horror movie and you think the movie has ended but then Bam twist ending, which means a sequel… That’s exactly how I felt with these next words)

“Babe, Have you seen the houses for sale in Leonora?”

(Cue suspenseful music)

 To be continued….
